Often times, I leave work how I wondering how I "won the job lottery". Don't get me wrong, teaching is very hard work, which takes up far more of my time than the 7:35-3:05 office hours. However, I regularly have to pinch myself when I think of the high caliber of my amazing school district, students, parents of students, colleagues, and administrators.Yesterday was one of those days for me!
On Thursday, the entire 6th grade class went on a field trip to watch a live performance of short story classics. Students could not have been more well behaved on the bus ride to the venue! Once we arrived and found our seats, the theater experienced a power outage that lasted about 10 minutes. Our students sat patiently and calmly in the cold and dark as the theater workers diligently to reestablish power. Once the power was reestablished, our students were a respectful audience; they listened and applauded when appropriate. After the show, we had lunch at a local fast-food restaurant. I commend the restaurant for serving all 53 of us (plus other patrons) in under 10 minutes. I also commend the students, who made such a positive impression on patrons of the restaurant. I was actually approached by a woman who complemented our group.
I am so lucky to work in Center Cass School District 66!
Bravo students!!
